On June 27, 2026, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), in collaboration with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Gujarat, achieved a significant victory against maritime drug trafficking by seizing around 115 kg of cocaine during a covert operation off the Mundra coast. This operation took place during the night of May 25-26, 2026, following actionable intelligence provided by the ATS.

The ICG deployed interceptor boats, with ATS personnel onboard, to conduct an extensive search in the Mundra anchorage area. They observed suspicious activity on the container vessel MV Europe, approximately five nautical miles offshore, where bags were seen being discarded into the sea. The joint team swiftly responded to the scene, recovering five bags from the water despite challenging low-visibility conditions.

Upon inspection, the bags contained packets of a white powder that tested positive for cocaine, totaling 115 packets weighing about one kilogram each. The estimated international market value of the seized drugs is approximately ₹1,150 crore. The vessel has since been brought to port for further investigation, with joint inquiries by ICG, ATS Gujarat, and other agencies currently underway.

This operation underscores the effective collaboration between the ICG and ATS Gujarat, marking the fifteenth successful anti-narcotics mission conducted by these agencies in the past five years, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing maritime security and contributing to the national goal of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”
