BAR Technologies and CM Energy Tech Co., Ltd (CMET) have recently signed a collaboration agreement following the launch of their new 20m and 24m WindWings in September 2024. The agreement aims to meet the increasing demand from shipowners and operators of Handymax bulkers, chemical tankers, and general cargo vessels. These new WindWings models are designed to expand the accessibility of wind-assisted propulsion to a wider range of vessel types.
The WindWings feature a fail-safe self-feathering system that can withstand extreme conditions, including winds of up to 100 knots. BAR Technologies’ WindWings stand out with their patented three-element wing design, which the founder claims generates 2.5 times the lift of traditional single-element wings. This innovation is set to revolutionize the efficiency and sustainability of vessel propulsion.
The collaboration between BAR Technologies and CMET signifies a significant step towards advancing wind-assisted propulsion technology in the maritime industry. By introducing these new WindWings models, the partners aim to provide ship operators with more options for enhancing their vessels’ performance and reducing environmental impact. This partnership reflects a commitment to innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector.
