Kongsberg Maritime, a marine technology firm based in Norway, has been awarded a significant contract to supply advanced deck machinery for a new floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel intended for an undisclosed offshore project in Asia. The contract involves delivering a comprehensive mooring and deck machinery solution, which includes essential components such as chain pull-in winches, chain stoppers, fairleads, and riser pull-in winches, along with the necessary control and automation systems. The equipment is expected to be delivered by mid-2027.
The project is notable for its requirement of large mooring chain dimensions, indicative of the challenging operational conditions the FPSO will face. Kongsberg Maritime emphasizes its expertise in designing and supplying high-capacity, heavy-duty deck machinery, which is crucial for such demanding offshore environments. Marte Tyldum, Senior Vice President of Kongsberg Maritime Handling, expressed satisfaction in continuing their partnership with the client on this FPSO development, highlighting their capability to offer robust solutions that integrate engineering and automation effectively.
While the mechanical design will be handled by IP Huse, Kongsberg Maritime will oversee the automation, control systems, and project management. The mechanical components will be manufactured in Norway, ensuring seamless integration between engineering and production. Kongsberg Maritime has not disclosed the contract’s value or specific details about the FPSO’s deployment location or operator, but this contract reinforces their ongoing relationship with the client following a previous FPSO project.
