M1 Limited, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), and SSI Solutions have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the adoption of 5G technology in Vietnam Maritime Corporation’s (VIMC) maritime operations. This collaboration combines M1’s expertise in maritime 5G, VNPT’s 5G network infrastructure, and SSI Solutions’ technology integration into VIMC’s operations to enhance Vietnam’s maritime efficiency. The goal is to introduce 5G-powered use cases to optimize operations and drive VIMC’s digital transformation.
VNPT acknowledges the strengths and experience of SSI and M1 in consulting and deploying 5G for vertical industries, particularly the seaport sector. They anticipate mutual benefits and significant revenue from leveraging 5G technology in this partnership. Nguyen Nam Long, Vice President of VNPT Group, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to bring value to all parties involved.
The applications of this partnership include tele-remote equipment control, enhanced automated guided vehicle (AGV) operations, and advanced surveillance systems. Andrew Cheng, M1’s Chief of Enterprise Services, highlighted the company’s efforts in co-creating and implementing 5G-enabled solutions to digitize Singapore’s maritime operations.
