Navarino and maritime healthcare provider VIKAND have partnered with the start-up LEDGID to create a more integrated digital ecosystem for seafarers. This initiative emphasizes the development of a portable professional identity, operational compliance, and future healthcare integration at sea. LEDGID aims to establish a neutral trust infrastructure for the maritime industry, allowing verified professional identities, credentials, and compliance records to be portable and reusable throughout a seafarer’s career.

The platform does not intend to replace existing systems but rather to connect them through a structured trust layer. It records verifications as auditable events, detailing who verified what, when, and the outcomes, facilitating the reuse of verified records across various employers and jurisdictions. Each seafarer will have a persistent digital profile that maintains their professional records and achievements, empowering them to manage and share their information securely and efficiently.

VIKAND’s involvement will focus on integrating healthcare services into this platform, enhancing access to medical care at sea. Meanwhile, Navarino aims to collaborate with LEDGID to streamline data exchange, minimizing redundant verification processes and administrative delays. This partnership seeks to address the challenges posed by fragmented systems in the maritime sector, paving the way for smarter, more connected operations through digital innovation.
