Maritime Institute, also known as MI, has announced its acquisition of Set Your Compass Course, LLC, operating as Compass Courses in Edmonds, WA. The training programs are set to begin in December 2024. CEO Dave Abrams expressed excitement about the merger, stating that Compass Courses’ reputation for caring about mariners will enhance training opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. Julie Keim, founder of Compass Courses, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the importance of adapting maritime training to industry changes.
Keim highlighted Compass Courses’ leadership in the maritime training industry since 2001 and expressed confidence in Maritime Institute’s ability to continue this legacy. The acquisition is expected to address the global shortage of mariners by providing top-notch training facilities and instructors. Keim praised Maritime Institute’s dedication to putting mariners first and ensuring the success of their students. The collaboration aims to uphold Compass Courses’ motto of “Train Like You Give a Damn” and foster a culture of excellence in maritime training.
The acquisition is set to be finalized by December 1, 2024, with the class schedule for December soon to be released. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
