Hapag-Lloyd Invests in Talent with 60 New Apprenticeships in Maritime and Land Roles

This summer, sixty young individuals are embarking on their professional journeys with Hapag-Lloyd, Germany’s largest maritime training company. For decades, Hapag-Lloyd has committed to nurturing young talent, with apprenticeships serving as a gateway to long-term careers both at sea and on land. Many current employees in leadership roles began their careers through these programs, showcasing the potential for growth within the company.

Among the new apprentices, thirty are starting their maritime careers aboard ships, including fourteen ship mechanics and sixteen nautical officer assistants. They will gain valuable hands-on experience on vessels like the Chicago Express and Kuala Lumpur Express before transitioning to container ships in Hapag-Lloyd’s global fleet. Additionally, the newly launched Shefarer Program aims to attract and support more women in maritime careers, enhancing onboard working conditions and promoting female role models through increased female crew representation.
