The Cyprus Marine Club recently hosted its largest gathering yet, attracting approximately 200 members and guests from the island’s maritime community. This event provided a platform for industry insights, networking opportunities, and reflection on the maritime sector’s growth. Club President Captain Eberhard Koch highlighted the impressive turnout as a sign of the club’s ongoing expansion and member engagement, announcing the addition of two new corporate members, Guma Tech and EMA, along with new individual member Aristotelis Moutafis.
In recognition of the upcoming Day of the Seafarer, Koch took the opportunity to honor seafarers worldwide for their dedication and vital role in global trade and the maritime industry. The evening’s focus shifted to Prabhat Jha, Group Managing Director and CEO of MSC Shipmanagement Limited, who delivered the keynote address. Introduced by Sunil Kapoor, a board member of the Cyprus Marine Club, Jha is well-respected in global shipping and was commended for his career journey from marine engineer to a leading figure in the industry.
During his presentation, titled “Cyprus at the Heart of the World’s Largest Shipping Line: The MSC Shipmanagement Success Story,” Jha discussed the evolution of MSC Shipmanagement and emphasized Cyprus’s strategic significance in the company’s global operations. His engaging speech combined industry insights with personal anecdotes, showcasing both the company’s growth and the individuals driving it. The evening concluded with a networking reception featuring live music from cellist Fabi, further fostering connections within the maritime community.
