Authorities in Indonesia reported that one individual is missing after a boat carrying foreign tourists sank off the Central Sulawesi coast late last week. The incident occurred when the vessel, which was transporting 11 passengers and two crew members, departed from a dive resort in the Tojo Una-Una Regency.
The boat was en route to Marisa Port in Gorontalo province and was expected to navigate through the Gulf of Tomini. It was supposed to reach its destination around 11:00 AM local time on Friday, July 24, after a journey of a little over three hours.
By 3:00 PM, however, officials discovered that the boat had not arrived at Marisa, raising concerns for the safety of those on board. This prompted the launch of a search and rescue operation to locate the missing passengers.
Rescue teams are actively working to find the missing individual and to assess the situation further. The local community and relevant authorities are collaborating to ensure the safety of tourists in the region.
