A recent Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report from Wallem Group, a prominent maritime services provider, emphasizes the importance of enhancing staff wellness initiatives to support safe and sustainable practices across its ship management, agency, and crewing sectors. The report highlights that Wallem delivered over 30,480 hours of wellness training for seafarers and conducted 40 senior management vessel visits, achieving an impressive 96% crew retention rate.
New programs introduced include a partnership with MedSea to host webinars focusing on the mental and physical wellbeing of seafarers, both onboard and during their time off. This initiative complements Wallem’s comprehensive wellness framework, which encompasses various programs like Wellness at Sea, Dignity at Sea, and initiatives promoting diversity and gender equality.
Moreover, the report outlines Wallem’s commitment to sustainability, detailing efforts to meet IMO 2030 and 2050 CO2 emission reduction targets, as well as compliance with EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime regulations. The company is now measuring real-time voyage performance and fuel efficiency across 95% of its fleet, with a significant portion able to utilize alternative fuels.
