The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is currently monitoring 17 additional vessels that may attempt to navigate the Strait of Hormuz, which are carrying nearly 300 Filipino seafarers. This situation highlights the ongoing risks faced by maritime workers in this strategic region.
To ensure the safety and well-being of these seafarers, the DMW is actively collaborating with shipping companies, licensed manning agencies, and relevant government bodies. This coordination aims to provide real-time updates and maintain open lines of communication, enabling swift responses to any emerging issues.
In addition to monitoring and communication efforts, the DMW has committed to offering support services to affected seafarers and their families. This includes assistance in navigating the challenges posed by their current circumstances, ensuring that they receive the care and resources they need during this critical time.
The agency remains vigilant in its efforts to safeguard the welfare of Filipino seafarers, reflecting its dedication to their safety and security while working abroad.
