Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) reported a total revenue of Rs 478 crore in 2021, while also incurring a loss of Rs 14 crore. Despite this loss, the company has successfully undergone a transformation from a loss-making entity to a dynamic Defense Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) contributing to the government’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative in shipbuilding.
Over the past three years, HSL has implemented various measures to enhance its overall performance, including upgrading infrastructure, enhancing corporate governance, and focusing more on ship repairs and conversions. These steps have helped strengthen the company’s position within the defense sector and improve its revenue generation capabilities.
In order to further bolster its capacity for ongoing fleet support vessels and upcoming projects like the Landing Platform Dock, HSL recently entered into a significant infrastructure modernization contract with L&T Geostructure. This contract, with a completion time of 20 months, aims to enhance the shipyard’s capabilities and support its growth trajectory, with a focus on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects playing a key role in driving record revenues for the company.
