Tragically, three individuals have died aboard the Dutch vessel, prompting plans for the evacuation of a British crew member requiring urgent medical assistance due to severe respiratory symptoms. The ship is currently located off the coast of Cape Verde, where efforts are underway to facilitate medical evacuations for the affected crew and passengers.

Starmer expressed his concern for those impacted by the outbreak, emphasizing that the government is collaborating with international partners to ensure the safety and well-being of British nationals on board.
