Currently, three of the six ships are operational, with the remaining three—Explora IV and V expected in 2027 and Explora VI in 2028—under construction.

The delivery ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Liguria’s President Marco Bucci and Genoa’s Mayor Silvia Salis. Explora III is notable for being the first in its fleet to utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing harmful emissions compared to traditional marine fuels. The ship is designed to operate on renewable fuels and will incorporate fuel cells in later models, supporting the industry’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Designed under RINA Classification Society’s supervision, Explora III boasts multiple environmental certifications, including “Green Plus” for high environmental standards and Polar Code C certification for operations in polar regions, ensuring passenger comfort and ecological responsibility.
