Chennai Port has achieved a significant milestone by handling a record-breaking 1.66 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) as of February 28, surpassing its previous record set in 2018-19. This accomplishment was reached a month ahead of the financial year’s end, showcasing the port’s efficiency and capacity.
In addition to this feat, on March 1, the port also surpassed the 50-million-tonne overall cargo milestone, achieving this mark 22 days earlier than anticipated. The success of these milestones has been attributed to the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, including terminal operators such as Chennai Container Terminal Pvt. Ltd., Chennai International Terminal Pvt. Ltd., and port officials.
Chairperson of the Chennai Port Authority, Sunil Paliwal, commended the coordinated efforts of all involved parties in achieving these remarkable milestones. The early attainment of these records demonstrates the port’s commitment to excellence and its ability to efficiently handle large volumes of cargo.
Overall, Chennai Port’s recent achievements highlight its position as a leading port in handling cargo and TEUs. The dedication and teamwork of stakeholders have played a crucial role in surpassing previous records and setting new benchmarks for efficiency and productivity.
