Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) has solidified its position as a premier shipyard in India, contributing significantly to the maritime sector. On May 18, 2026, two of its women officers, Aparajita Ghosh and Debjani Sen, were honored at the “International Day for Women in Maritime Excellence 2026” event held at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. The awards were presented by West Bengal’s Deputy Chief Minister, Dilip Ghosh.
The event, organized by the Directorate General of Shipping in collaboration with the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee, aimed to recognize the impact of women professionals in the maritime industry. Aparajita Ghosh, Chief General Manager (Finance), received the “Women Excellence Award in Maritime Sector” for her exceptional contributions to enhancing GRSE’s financial framework.
Additionally, Debjani Sen, Additional General Manager (Central Design Office), was acknowledged for her efforts in advancing ship design and engineering capabilities at GRSE. Their recognition underscores the company’s commitment to promoting professional excellence and inclusivity in shipbuilding and corporate management, as well as the vital role women play in strengthening India’s maritime and defense shipbuilding landscape.
