Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) announced that Heritage River Journeys Private Limited, operating as Antara River Cruises, has signed a substantial contract with its subsidiary, Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited, valued between ₹100 crore and ₹250 crore. This agreement aims to enhance premium inland waterway tourism in India through the construction of two luxurious river cruise vessels for the Brahmaputra River.
The first vessel’s contract has been finalized, while a Letter of Intent (LOI) has been issued for the second. Antara River Cruises is recognized for its bespoke luxury cruise experiences along prominent river systems, including the Ganga, Padma, and Brahmaputra.
The flagship vessel, Ganga Vilas, offers an extraordinary journey, recognized by the Limca Book of Records as the world’s longest river cruise. Spanning over 3,200 kilometers across 27 rivers, the cruise showcases diverse landscapes like the Brahmaputra Valley, Sundarbans, and the Gangetic plains.
Cochin Shipyard clarified that there are no stakes held by promoters or associated firms in the awarding organization, confirming that the contract does not involve related party transactions.
