Qatar’s inaugural Maritime Training and Simulation Centre (MTSC) was officially opened at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) on Thursday. The facility was inaugurated by HE Mohammed Abdullah al-Maadeed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, alongside UDST President Dr. Salem al-Naemi. The MTSC aims to enhance the skills of maritime professionals through hands-on simulation training, establishing Qatar as a regional leader in maritime education and innovation.

Equipped with advanced simulation technologies, the MTSC features modern classrooms, navigation and engine simulation rooms, and training facilities for maritime safety, including firefighting and first aid. The centre offers specialized programs recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). During the inauguration, al-Maadeed toured the facility and learned about its offerings, emphasizing the importance of preparing a skilled workforce to support Qatar’s maritime industry.

The opening coincided with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Transport and UDST, formalizing a partnership aimed at advancing Qatar’s maritime capabilities. Both leaders expressed their commitment to fostering a future-ready workforce through specialized training and international certifications, contributing to Qatar’s economic diversification and maritime leadership.
