The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), is actively working to create a cohesive maritime ecosystem that prioritizes navigational safety, boosts the efficiency of maritime services, and enhances regulatory standards. These initiatives align with the rapid expansion of Dubai’s maritime sector, solidifying the emirate’s status as a premier global hub for maritime activities.
Recent statistics underscore the sector’s magnitude, with 8,415 registered marine vessels and over 14,000 maritime companies operating in Dubai. The industry attracts a diverse workforce, representing 116 nationalities, with the United Kingdom being the most prominent. The infrastructure supporting this sector includes 20 marinas and 4,214 berths, which are crucial for accommodating the growing demand for maritime services.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of the DMA, emphasized the importance of developing the maritime sector to enhance Dubai’s blue economy and global maritime presence. He noted that the sector’s growth reflects the emirate’s attractiveness to investors and operators, as well as its robust infrastructure capable of supporting future expansion.
The DMA is responsible for regulating maritime activities along Dubai’s 72 km coastline and exclusive economic zone. It is committed to improving navigation safety and operational efficiency while catering to the diverse range of watercraft, including motorized pleasure boats, tourism vessels, and floating restaurants, which collectively enhance the maritime experience for users.
